The Town of SRF attended the 2025 ROMA Conference and met with the following ministries:
Ministry of Infrastructure: to express concerns on the 2025 decrease in Ontario Community Infrastruture Fund (OCIF) formula-based funding. Smooth Rock Falls relies heavily on the annual OCIF allocation to rehabilitate, and renew critical core infrastructure, and the development and improvement of the municipality’s asset management plan. Additionally, the town expressed that there is a lack of funding for small rural northern communities to build, improve or rehabilitate roads and waterlines. The Town expressed the high importance of future funding assistance to help the growth of housing development in Smooth Rock Falls.
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing: to brief the Ministry of the history of the town’s senior housing project since 2016 when the committee was created  and to express concerns that the current market pricing and funding opportunities are affecting the ability to complete afforable housing for seniors, and how funding support can help the growth of housing development in Smooth Rock Falls.
Ministry of Northern Development (MND):Â to thank the Ministry for its continuous funding support on various projects throughout the years, with the recent urgent repairs and improvements at the Reg Lamy Cultural Centre, TSRF expressed gratitude to MND for their approval of allowing remaining funds in our file to be used to purchase a new arena chiller for the operation of the 2024-2025 season and a new Zamboni garage door. Â TSRF additionally asked for support to request an extension for the Industrial Park project to use remaining funds to construct a road in the Industrial Park. The Town also discussed new projects such as seeking financial support for a walking trail system feasibility study and for funding support on a new outdoor multi-use recreation court for the healthy wellbeing for the residents of Smooth Rock Falls
