June 1, 2023

Corporation of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls

The Smooth Rock Falls Volunteer Fire Department is advising residents that there is a fire ban effective immediately until further notice.

This means no open fires are permitted within town-limits until further notice. All burning permits have been suspended and the SRF Fire Department is not selling burning permits at this time. This means:

  • NO campfires
  • NO burning in outdoor fireplaces
  • NO burning in outdoor fire pits
  • NO incinerator burning
  • NO brush or slash pile burning

Any person setting an open-air fire will be responsible and liable for costs and possible fine. It’s hot out, there is a lack of precipitation, and extreme dry conditions. Please cooperate and stay safe.

Residents can learn about the rules under a Restricted Fire Zone at ontario.ca/page/outdoor-fire-restrictions.

If you have any questions, please contact 705-338-2717

Sincerely,

Fire Chief, Michel Pelletier

Cc: Deputy Fire Chief, Yvan Marchand
