New initiative from council in effort to recognize the selfless volunteers in  Smooth Rock Falls.

Individuals may be nominated from among the following Categories;

1. Accessibility Award: awarded to an individual and/or group for contribution to the elimination of barriers to people with disabilities, and/or the inclusion of people with disabilities in all facets of the community.
2. Arts & Culture Award: awarded to an individual and/or group for contribution to the development, support, preservation or promotion of culture, music, visual, performing, or literary arts.
3. Beautification Award: awarded to an individual and/or group that have volunteered their time for the sole purpose of making a positive impact on the community’s image.
4. Good Neighbour Awards: awarded to a resident for their outstanding efforts and actions that have enhanced or improved their neighborhood.
5. Heritage Award: awarded to an individual and/or group for contribution to heritage preservation, architectural conservation, research and/or interpretation of local heritage.
6. Mayor’s Volunteer Service Award: One individual and/or a group in the community who has shown exemplary behavior and contributions to enhance or improve the community and residents within it. An award to recognize outstanding citizenship within the community, with many years of dedicated service and devotion to the residents of the community.
7. Outstanding Community Group Award: recognizes a community group or Special Interest Group for its outstanding voluntary contribution to the well-being of our community.
8. Senior Volunteer Award: awarded to an individual 60 years of age or older, who demonstrates a true commitment to our community and their volunteer work.
9. Sports and Recreation Award: awarded to an individual and/or group for contribution to the promotion, development and/or support of recreation and/or sport in the community.
10. Student Leadership Award: Awarded to one Student from each school in the Municipality that demonstrates exemplary leadership skills, contributions and qualities to their school and community.
11. Sustainability Award: awarded to an individual and/or group for contribution to the protection, preservation, beautification, awareness and/or promotion of our local environment.
12. Youth Volunteer Award: Awarded to an individual 21 years of age or younger, who demonstrates a true commitment to our community and their volunteer work.
13. Historical Pillar of the Community: Awarded to an individual wo has supported and has brough recognition to the community throughout their efforts over the course of a lifetime.
