Attention residents

With colder weather, it becomes more likely for pipes to freeze and burst. To avoid the hassle of emergency home repairs, winterizing your home plumbing is highly recommended. When pipes freeze, they can experience pressure build-up and eventually rupture. Even a small crack in your plumbing can cause water to leak and may potentially damage your home. The resulting damage can be expensive and even lead to the development of mold.

❄ Winterizing Tips
  • Insulate pipes in cold areas (e.g., basement, attic, crawl space).
  • Turn off the indoor valve for hose bibs and drain lines.
  • Inspect and maintain your furnace to reduce the chance of an unexpected breakdown.
For extra protection, eligible homeowners can opt for Service Line Warranties of Canada’s exterior and interior plans, which cover frozen line emergencies. The program is endorsed by the Municipality. For more information visit www.slwofc.ca.
