July 15, 2025

Corporation of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls

Notice to residents

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls has officially launched its Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) to streamline the enforcement of key municipal by-laws.

What is AMPS?
AMPS allows the Town to issue local fines for certain by-law violations—such as property standards, yard maintenance, and other community regulations—without having to go through the court system.

Why it matters:
Faster response times
Simpler process for residents
Fair and local resolution of violations
Helps keep our neighbourhoods clean, safe, and respectful

What changes?
If a by-law infraction is observed, the Town can now issue a Penalty Notice directly to the property owner.

You will have the right to request a Screening Review if you disagree with the penalty, and a Hearing Officer may be assigned to review the matter if needed.

Effective Immediately
The following new and updated by-laws are now in force:

Let’s work together to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming community!

Questions? Please contact the Clerk’s Office at 705-338-2717.

Note: A dedicated page for AMPS is currently being developed and will be available under the Municipal Services tab in August 2025.
